About Barbara Pickens

Barbara began as a marketing recruiter, tracking and placing brand managers from top-tier CPG training companies (General Foods, Procter & Gamble, General Mills) into companies building their own brand management organizations. With the transformation of the Retail Customer landscape in the 1980’s, she developed a sales management practice to recruit senior sales leaders capable of strategy development, change leadership, organization design and activation excellence.

This laser-like focus on brand and sales management people and organizations-- aided by her acute eye for talent and fit-- led to a number of cornerstone client relationships as well as the creation of Pickens & Company.

Over the years, she has been a recruiting partner to leading companies. The people she has recruited have contributed significantly to their companies’ value and been promoted and rewarded accordingly. Barbara is known for recommending and placing candidates that are custom-fit to the unique requirements of each leadership position and cultural landscape.

A native New Yorker and an arts patron, she is also active in two organizations dedicated to the special needs of the city’s homeless population and is a mentor to disadvantaged teenagers. Her college education at Tulane and LSU was centered on Journalism studies.
